Tori Dango Zōsui

Ingredients

  • 2 bowls of steamed rice
  • 1/2 lb ground chicken
  • 4 oz lotus root (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup green onion (chopped)
Spices (for soup)

  • 4 cups dashi soup (4 tsp dashi powder, 4 cups water)
  • 1/4 cup sake
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • tsp katakuriko with 2 tbsp water
Spices (for meatballs)

  • 1 tsp sake
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • Dash salt
Preparation

  1. Put chopped lotus root in water with little vinegar and let sit for 3 min
  2. Mix lotus root, chicken, soy sauce, sake, ginger, and 1/2 tsp salt. Knead mixture, then form into 10 meatballs
  3. Boil dashi soup in a saucepan, then add sake, soy sauce, ginger and chicken balls. Boil for 10 min on low
  4. Add rice and boil for 5 minutes
  5. Add katakuriko, mix, then add a dash of salt. Sprinkle green onions on top
  6. Serve in the pan on the table with a ladle and bowls
